Be-Me: Stigmatisation of mental health complaints as a barrier to sustainable employability

The BE-ME project investigates the influence of stigmatisation of mental health complaints on the sustainable employability of Defence personnel.

Stigmatisation of mental complaints

For this project, research is being conducted into the influence of stigmatisation of mental health on the sustainable employability of Defence personnel. Stigmatisation is thought to have a negative impact on two important choices that a person with mental health problems faces. This concerns (1) the choice to seek help for these complaints and (2) the choice to make these complaints negotiable with a manager and direct colleagues. We will also study whether these choices have an influence on the sustainable employability of military personnel.
