Biography

Dorethe has been working at the Ministry of Defence since 2012 and as GZ-psychologist since 2015. At the moment she is working as a senior GZ-psychologist with the rank of Major at MGGZ regional centre Zwolle.

From November 2023 onwards, she has started with the education for KP. In light of this education, at the EC she is researching the prevalence of alcohol, (e-)cigarette and drug use among acting military personnel. In the Netherlands there is no data available on this matter. With the data gathered by Dorethe, the MOD can develop methods aimed at effective prevention of such usage. Her goal is that this research is repeated every 3 to 5 years, so that a culture change may develop in the taboo on substance abuse and prevention and treatment will be used to keep the armed forces in an operational state.

In the past years, Dorethe has been very active: she was sent on deployment to Mali as the mission’s psychologist, has served on the MGGZ staff with operational care as her area of responsibility and she specialist herself in trauma, personality and attachment.
